In his opening speech, NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong  said the session will focus on the Government’s supplemented reports on the results  of the implementation of socio-economic tasks and State budget in 2007 and that in first months of this year.

The NA deputies will look at the operation of the NA committees and agencies, the Chief Judge of the People’s Supreme Court and Director of the People’s Supreme Procuracy.

Also on the session’s working agenda will be the overseeing of the implementation of laws on mobilisation of all social resources for public health and the results  of settlement of voters’ concerns and deputies’ answers to voters’ questions.

In particular, the law makers will examine and then make decisions on the adjustments of the boundaries of Hanoi and other provinces.

According to the NA Chairman, the law makers are expected to discuss and approve bills on state property management  and use, property purchase and requisition, value added tax (revised), corporate income tax (revised), nuclear energy; and amendments and supplements to some articles of the Civil Code, of the Law on Publication, of the Law on Drug Prevention and Combat, of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam  People’s Army, and of the Oil and Gas Law.

They are to debate a resolution that allows foreigners to buy and own houses in Vietnam  for a fixed term on a trial basis and give comments to the bills on civil service, nationality (revised), enforcement of implementation of judgments on civil cases, health care insurance, high technology, biodiversity and road traffic (revised).

On the morning session, Prime Minister  Nguyen Tan Dung  delivered a report on reducing inflation, stabilising macro-economy and ensuring social welfare and sustainable growth.
